Principal Margaret Hayes, center, was pleased to present award certificates and gift cards to two outstanding members of the Maria community, junior Stefany Moses, left, and Stacion Balthazar, theology teacher and Junior Class moderator. Moses received the Mystic of the Month Award, and Ms. Balthazar received Diamond of the Month.
The Maria High School Parents Club sponsored the awards and chose the above November winners from nominations by students, faculty, and staff. For the Diamond of the Month, Maria students are asked to nominate any faculty or staff member who has inspired or supported them. The Parents Club’s Mystic of the Month, which faculty and staff nominate, is designated as a student who “shows improvement in any area of student life, who does not get much recognition but continues to strive for success through any circumstance.”
Parents Club President Mary Ann Pater recently announced the honors for December. William Hoffman, social studies teacher and department chair, was named Diamond of the Month, and senior Brittany Burks received Mystic of the Month.
