Tuition
Maria High School offers an all-inclusive tuition that makes Catholic education a reality for most families. Tuition for the 2011-2012 school year will be $7,550.
This amount is what parents are asked to contribute towards the education of their daughters. The actual cost of educating a young woman at Maria High School is $14,700. Maria High School, its donors, and the Sister of St. Casimir help to bridge this gap by covering over $6,500 of expenses toward the education of every young woman who desires to come to Maria High School, making this an opportunity every family should consider All-inclusive means that there are no additional costs for:
- Athletics: unlimited sports with no fees!
- Participation in after-school clubs
- Theatre productions
- Textbooks
- Title I testing (where applicable)
- Counseling resources
- Cambridge testing
- Annual yearbook
- Graduation fees
Additionally, there is no mandatory fundraising or donation requirement.
Although our all-inclusive tuition covers everything it costs to educate your daughter, there are additional non-tuition items that do cost extra, such as:
- Paperback reading booklets

- KAIROS retreat
- Senior prom
- School supplies and transportation costs
We are committed to working with every family in order for your student to continue her education at Maria High School. In doing so, we offer various payment options to make the budgeting of tuition payments more affordable:
- 10- or 12-month payment plans
- $250 discount for tuition paid in full by May 1, 2011
Assistance (Financial Aid and Scholarship)
In addition to our varied payment options, there are other ways to garner assistance with tuition:·
- Discounts:
Sister Discount - offered to sister of Maria High School Students. $500 for the first sibling, $1,000 for each additional.
Public Service Discount - offered to dependents of city of Chicago and state of Illinois employees and currently enlisted military personnel. Annual discount of $2,500.
Archdiocesan Discount - offered to dependents of employees of the Archdiocese of Chicago and other Catholic institutions. Annual discount of $2,500.
- Scholarships:
Academic Scholarship - offered to the top ten incoming freshman testers. $1,000 offered for annual renewal, for up to four years. Funded by the Brach Foundation.
Alumnae Scholarship - offered to daughters or granddaughters of alumnae. One-time $500 scholarship.
Anne Burke Scholarship - up to full tuition offered to Senior students who excel in academic, extracurricular activities and community service.
Bonne Jean Porter Walls Scholarship – offered to current students. One-time scholarship, award varies.
Conley Scholarship – offered to a current junior or senior who has a strong interest in the medical field. One-time $1,500 scholarship.
Dueser-Doyle Scholarship – offered to a current student with strong leadership, service, and interest in music or athletics. One-time $500 scholarship.
Father Malin Scholarship – offered to current students who have volunteered in their community and made a difference. One-time scholarship of $500.
Gorman-Sayles Scholarship – offered to a current student with strong interest in science. One-time scholarship of $500.
Gamaila Scholarship – offered to the top tester for the incoming freshman entrance exam. One-time scholarship of $500.
Hill Family Scholarship – offered to current students who excel academically and are currently raised by a single parent. $1,000, renewable annually.
MHS Employee Scholarship – offered to current students who are recommended by current faculty and/or staff. Awards vary.
Marquette Bank Scholarship – offered to current students who excel academically and live in the 60629 zip code. One-time scholarship of $1,000.
Mazgelis Family Scholarships – offered to the top tester and a current student who excels in writing and the literary arts. One-time awards range from $500-$1,000.
Principal Scholarship – offered to current students who excel in drama. One-time $1,000 scholarship.
Sister Bernarda Scholarship – Offered to current students who have a strong interest in music. One-time scholarship of $500.
Sister Julie Shainauskas Memorial Scholarship – offered to a senior student who excels in a foreign language. One-time scholarship of $500.
Sweet Charity Award - offered to current students who excel in community service and academics. One-time award varies from $500-$1,000.
Szymanski Scholarship – offered to current students who have been affected by the death of a father. One time scholarship, award varies.
