Every year Maria High School has two drama performances, a fall drama and a spring musical.
The Fall 2009 Play was Alice in Wonderland and When Wendy Grew Up .
While containing the fun and fantasy of the original Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan as well as favorite characters like the White Rabbit, The Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, Peter, Nana and many more, Maria High School gives a little different twist to the stories in its performance of an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland by Bob May and the play When Wendy Grew Up by J.M. Barrie. In May’s version, Alice is joined on her journey through Wonderland by a slightly older young woman named Alyse who helps her see that growing up and imagination can exist together. In Barrie’s play, a sequel to Peter Pan, Wendy and Peter are reunited after many years, and both of them must make choices between growing up and returning to Never Never Land.
The 2010 Spring Musical was Annie.
Leapin' Lizards! The popular comic strip heroine took centerstage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. “Annie” is a feel good musical that will make us forget the tough times. Songs like “Tomorrow” and “Hard Knock Life” had you tapping your feet and singing along.
Our 2010 production of Annie was great! A mix of excellent choreography and talented actors helped make this show one of the best. In fact, audiences were "Fully Dressed" with a smile after the show.
